The practice will reopen for the “new normal” from 9am on Monday 1 June.

Initially we would like to take care of those with more urgent requirements and so are asking anyone who requires a purely routine consultation to wait a few more weeks before visiting the practice.

A few important points

·         We ask that when attending an eye examination or contact lens appointment you do so alone wherever possible.

·         If you wish to choose some new glasses or sunglasses, we recommend that you to arrange an appointment in advance as we need to strictly control the number of people in the practice. If you wish to bring another person with you when choosing new glasses, we will do our very best to accommodate this. Any glasses you try on will be held to one side and sterilised before being put back on display.

·         If you need further supplies then we’re happy to continue posting these out. If you’d prefer to call in person, please phone ahead so that we can have these waiting for you.

Following the new government regulations, we are moving with immediate effect to offering only telephone consultations with our optometrists. These appointments can be arranged through our MySight booking platform or by calling the practice on 01904 667000. If our optometrist believes it is necessary for you to visit the practice they will arrange this for you and advise the protocol around that. We will still be able to see you if you have an urgent problem and need our help, but obviously not for any issue that isn’t high priority or can be dealt with over the telephone.

If you need further supplies of contact lenses or solutions, please request these through your MySight account or by email to care@viewpoint.co.uk. If that's not possible then you can call us to arrange this. During this period our phone lines will only be staffed Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm and Saturday 9am to Midday, with an answerphone service outside these hours. Please be aware that to minimise any risk, we only have a skeleton staff working each day and so your emails and phone calls will not be dealt with as quickly as you'd normally expect.

If you or household have symptoms suggestive of Coronavirus (a new persistent cough and/or fever) you MUST NOT COME to the practice but stay at home. Call us to let us know and follow the Government's advice about self isolation. If you are displaying symptoms and come to the practice you will be refused entry to the building.

If you or household have symptoms suggestive of Coronavirus and require emergency eye care, you should contact the practice by phone and we can advise you on how to access NHS provision for this or call NHS 111 for advice.

If you have no symptoms but are over 70, pregnant, have an underlying health condition (defined here), the Government strongly advise you to stay at home. Call us to let us know and follow the Government's advice about self isolation.

If there are no symptoms in you or your household, you are not over 70, pregnant and don't have an underlying health condition, the Government advice is strict limitation of "social contact" which does not apply to our services and you can come to the practice as normal taking extra care about social distancing and hygiene.

If you don’t have any symptoms but for any reason prefer not to come to the practice, no problem – just call to let us know you want to rearrange.

Any recent travel is no longer relevant in deciding whether you should come for your appointment.
